Läste för ett tag sen, på nåt cykelforum (kanske Cyklistbubblan), att en person nyligen gått in i en butik och frågat efter cykellysen och fått svaret: ”Några sådana har vi inte hemma eftersom cykelsäsongen är slut”.
Och det är ju bara helt galna människor som påstår att cykling har en säsong.
Men jag själv då? Det är onekligen glesare mellan blogginläggen och besöksräknaren talar även den sitt tydliga språk. Det tål att reflekteras över. Är jag en av de där galna?
Nej, ICKE, för jag kan jag stolt konstatera att det inte finns några väder som förpassar mig till alternativa transportmedel. Jag är och förblir en året-runt-cyklist.
Men det ska erkännas att nöjescyklingen uteblir under årets 4-5 mörkmånader, det handlar nästan enbart om att ta mig från A till B då.
Tillbaka till cykellysen och problematiken kring detta.
Oj vad jag förbrukat små batteridrivna lågkvalitativa LED-varianter under åren som gått. Mitt miljösamvete är alldeles förkolnat.
På lådcykeln finns den gamla klassiska platsinstallerade dynamosorten, som alltid sitter där och bara funkar och funkar och funkar.
Jag hittar inte ord för att tillräckligt kraftfullt uttrycka hur skönt det är att slippa fippla och mecka med små, ofta borttappade och/eller ickefungerande, kinesiska plastlampor.
Omsättningen av dåliga cykellysen (har inte hittat några hållbara och oslarvbara trots att jag sökt med ljus och lykta) har varit min överlägset största löpande cykeldriftskostnad. Inte minst p.g.a. en miljödålig överkonsumtion av batterier (man glömmer dem på:().
Det har fått mig att skaffa Reelights batterifria för-bra-för-att-vara-sant-lysen.
De drivs genom magnetism. Man har hittills tvingats pilla in/fästa magneter mellan ekrarna för att det ska fungera; men sen i våras finns det en annan sort (Reeligth City) som (fråga mig inte hur – förklara hur) fungerar med enbart cykelns fälgar till hjälp.
Det ska vara 3-4 mm mellan lyset och fälgen. Sitter det för nära börjar lampan med jämna mellanrum ”gläfsa” mot fälgen – magnetismen blir för stark, särkilt när man bromsar (om man har fälgbromsar).
Jag ska erkänna att jag var skeptisk i början. Lysena, som gick på närmare 400:- med frakt, var plastiga och det kändes sådär med själva grejen att fästa dem i bromsarna. Om man har skivbromsar på sin cykel ingår även annan variant av fästanordning i form buntband. Jag gissar att skivbromsar är att föredra framför fälgbromsar för optimal användning av Reelight City.
Man får pilla och justera ett tag för att få till en bra placering där lyset inte smackar ihop med fälgen samtidigt som man uppnåt tillfredställd ljusrespons. Ju större mellanrum desto mer svårantända – såklart.
Ja, jag är medveten om tvättbehov.
Men det positiva är att de sitter där (går att ta av), lyser jämnt (dock ej vid stillastående) och man är batteribefriad (mycket paranteser idag). Det är värt en hel del.
Min skepsis har, efter några månaders användande, vänt.
Trots att de inkräktar något på bromseffektiviteten (vid fälgbromsmontering) så ångrar jag inte mitt köp. Fördelarna överväger helt enkelt nackdelarna. Det medför bra karma att synas batterifritt och att slippa leta efter små plastiga, fula, batterislukande, lättbortslarvade kineslysen gör helt enkelt livet lättare att leva.
Nu sitter de på min Montague Boston, men har även haft dem på min Brompton där de små hjulen med sitt höga varvtal bidrar positivt till ljusstyrka och snabb respons (längre startsträcka med fullstl). Hopfällningen påverkas inte.
Jag tror jag kommer fortsätta med Reelight. Känner mig lite frälst. Så, farväl batterier. Hoppas vi aldrig ses igen.

Min sjuåring har Reelight på sin cykel under vinterhalvåret, en äldre version i och för sig, SL100, med magneter mellan ekrarna. Precis som du var jag från början aningen skeptisk, men nu är jag helt övertygad. Det funkar alldeles utmärkt.
Min egen cykel har navdynamo, vilket också är otroligt bra och bekvämt. Jag fattar egentligen inte att folk håller på med batterilysen överhuvudtaget (förutom kanske när man har racer eller mountainbike).
